The case for specialist support

The need is recognised.
The support has been refused.

Bermagui Public School teachers are calling for specialist support classes for students with disability and significant learning needs. The NSW Department of Education has acknowledged the complexity of students’ needs but declined to establish the classes, with reassessment planned for the end of Semester 1, 2027.

Federation members argue that students need properly resourced specialist provision now, and that teachers’ commitment cannot replace specialist teaching, staffing and resources.

Specialist support classes would be a regional resource, strengthening education across the region.

Come to the community meeting to hear from local teachers, discuss what’s at stake and help build support for a properly resourced Bermagui Public School.
